Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell it, there are no ads or tracking tools, and you can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
This policy covers the apps made by Northwoods Apps ("we", "us"), starting with the Hunting Camp App, and this website. Questions go to support@northwoodsapps.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, a password (stored only as a protected login by our login provider, never readable by us), and the name, initials and color you choose.
- What you add to your camp: harvests, logbook entries, messages, comments, calendar visits, reactions and photos.
- Camp details: the camp's name, its nearest town (if the admin sets one), its members and their roles, its plan, and how many people and photos it uses.
- Reports: if you report a post, the report and your reason.
- Purchases: which plan your camp has and until when. The app isn't for sale yet. When it is, payments will be handled by the app store you buy through, and we'll never see your card or bank details.
What we don't collect
- No advertising, analytics or tracking tools are built into our apps.
- We never use your phone's location. Weather is looked up for your camp's general area, which your camp's admin sets by choosing the nearest town or ZIP code. It's saved to within about a kilometer, never a stand location. The moon phase needs no location at all.
- Photos are re-saved inside the app before upload, which removes the hidden location data cameras attach to pictures.
Who can see what
- Your camp: everything you post is visible to the approved members of that camp, and to nobody outside it. A camp's admin approves who gets in.
- Your email address is visible only to you and your camp's admins (so they can help with password resets).
- Us: we can access stored data to run the service, fix problems, and review content that's been reported.
Services we use to run the app
We don't sell or share your information with anyone else. These companies process it only to run the app for us:
- Google Firebase (login, database, photo storage and server functions), in the United States.
- Open-Meteo for weather and for finding a town by name or ZIP code. It receives only the town or the camp's general area, never anything about you.
- Google Fonts for the lettering on this site and in the app.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. A camp whose plan ends keeps its records, so it can pick up where it left off.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings > Account & Security > Delete my account. This erases your login, profile, email address, messages, comments, calendar visits and every photo you added. Your harvests and logbook entries stay in your camp's history as "Former member", without your name or photos, so the camp's records stay whole. If you own a camp, it passes to another admin; if you're the only person in it, the camp is deleted too. You can also ask us to delete your account by email.
Your choices and rights
- Change your name, color or email address in Settings at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, at support@northwoodsapps.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Block another member to hide their posts from you, and report anything that shouldn't be there.
Children
Our apps are for people 13 and older. Younger hunters can use a parent's account. If we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we'll delete it.
Security
Each camp is sealed off from every other camp, and only approved members can get in. Connections are encrypted. No system is perfect; if something ever goes wrong, we'll tell affected people promptly.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
